Battle of the Bands

Battle of the Bands

After the success of the inaugural competition, the second annual Battle of the Bands took place in the school on Thursday 4th February.

The event this year was even more outstanding and again was organised and produced by Christopher McIntyre S5. Hosts for the evening were Stephanie Whitelock S6, Aidan O'Mara S5 and Mr Grant Cowie, Principal Teacher of Geography.

This is proving to be a very popular musical event, because once again tickets had sold out very quickly.

The bands playing included last year's winners "The Rogues" performing under their new name "Ashbury Lane", "Internal Uprising" who formed especially for the competition, "The Dandawrs" who also played last year and "Freudian Slip" previously the "Cuban Heels" in last year's competition.

And not forgetting the staff band "Best by Farr" who entertained the audience with their renditions of "Let Me Entertain You", "500 Miles" and "Shine".

All the bands gave exceptional performances and the judges decided that 2010's worthy winners were "The Dandawrs" - Scott Johnstone, Fraser Joyce, Max Robinson, Neil Allan, all from S5 and Laura McCartney S6 - who were rewarded with an engraved glass trophy and £100 of vouchers for a music store of their choice. The members of all the other bands did not leave empty-handed, as each received a £10 gift token for their participation.
