First Modern Champion
James B. Connolly (United States), winner of the hop, step, and jump (the first final event in the 1896 Olympics), was the first Olympic champion of the modern Olympic Games.

Valentine Roses
The Young Enterprise Team is going to be selling Valentine Roses this year. Standard roses are being sold at £1.00 and luxury roses at £1.50; you can attach your own personal message on the rose.
Order forms are available at Business Education and roses will be delivered on the 8th February 2012.

S1 Enterprise Event - Wednesday 8th February
This will run periods 4, 5 & 6 on Wednesday. Ensure you know which area you are going to and what group you are in. List of names are outside E1.

Injections
On Monday 6th February all S3 classes will be disrupted as the school nurses will be in all morning and possibly Period 4 giving the DTP (Diphtheria Tetanus and Polio) injections. Yvonne Hill will be collecting the pupils from classes; they will be out of class no more that 15 minutes.

Well done to S4 who completed their mock interviews last week ! The interviewers were very impressed with you. You will receive your feedback forms at House Assemblies next week.

S1 Enterprise Event
The S1 Enterprise Event will take place on Wednesday 8th February 12.45. A list of groups are on the notice board outside E1- please make sure you know what area and group you are in. Any problems please see Mrs Dyett.

A STRONG reminder that all log sheets have to be completed up to December and are now due to be handed in to Mrs Dyett.

Dalziel's Talent Show
Dalziel’s Talent Show 2012 will take place on Thursday 1st March. If you wish to take part in this fantastic event collect an application form from the Home Economics Department at break times.
Forms will be available from Monday 16th January until Friday 27th January. Auditions will then be held in February.

Dalziel Direct Café
The Dalziel Direct Café will be open on Friday 20th January at the morning break in the DP Room in Home Economics.
