Dalziel’s all-conquering S1 Sevens side returned from the Active Schools finals as Champions after completing an unbeaten run of results in the whole competition.
Pitched against Coatbridge, St Maurices and a Chryston/Cumbernauld select, the Dalziel troops recorded 4 wins from 5 games with the only marginal blot being a drawn match against St Maurice’s in game 2.
Overall however the boys again played an excellent series of matches, showing great awareness and skill to keep the ball moving and their opponents guessing. As a real bonus all the boys present on finals day were rewarded with at least one try, so celebrations all round.
Results 4-1 win v Coatbridge A. Tries from Kyle McAllister-Keenan (2), Oscar Logan and Lleyton Kearney. 2-2 draw v St Maurice’s. Tries from Keenan and Logan 7-0 win v Coatbridge B. Tries from Logan (2), George Millar (2), Kearney (2) and Andrew Sneddon 6-0 v CCA Tries from Cameron Marshall, Adam Skelton, Abdullah Azhar (2), Logan and Kearney.
The boys received medals on the day with the Cup presentation pending. Bottom line however, this was another excellent performance from this group with all who have contributed through the season deserving of praise.
To finish on this undoubted ‘high’ will mean there should be a buzz about their prospects for next session when it is hoped the school will be in a position once again to field more than just one side.
For the record, the Sevens squad is: Abdullah Azhar, Liam Donnelly, Griffin Jackson, Lleyton Kearney, Ethan King, Oscar Logan, Cameron Marshall, George Millar, Adam Skelton, Andrew Sneddon.
