The 2018 Science & Technology Fayre was a great success once again.
Every S1 pupil works as part of a group on a topic of their choice. This year's ideas included maglev trains, bionic body parts, pinhole cameras and lava lamps to name only a few.
Our associated primary schools also take part each year and a group is selected per school to be a finalist on the day of the Fayre. Ladywell presented a project on Geode Crystals, Glencairn Primary chose to solve the problem of plastic pollution in our oceans and Knowetop Primary investigated the very topical 'Yanni or Laurel' debate.
Five former pupils who are now engineers, scientists and medical students were invited back to judge the Science Fayre and they were very impressed by the confidence and scientific knowledge of our pupils.
The winning groups were:
- S1 Best Overall Project: Sun-sensational UV Protection
- S1 Best Presentation: Food Energy
- Primary 7 Winner: Glencairn Primary
Well done to everyone involved in this year's Science and Technology Fayre!
