Brain Waves

Did you ever think it would be possible to play computer games with your mind? Well now you can! The Brain Waves group conducted research into this technology and were kindly provided with a brain wave kit and software from Neurosky.

Brine Shrimp

The group studied their sea monkeyʼs intently and produced a fantastic project based upon their findings.

Colour Change

The group conducted investigations into how Chromyx material works. Their heat changing material topic went fantastically and was received well at the event.

Earth Quake

The earthquake group constructed a shaker table which simulated the dramatic and apocalyptic effects of a natural disaster. Glasgow Caledonian University generously provided the Lego Mindstorms kits for the Earthquake group to construct their shaker table.

Flood Alert

The polar ice caps are melting. Have no fear! The flood alert system is here. The group built their own flood alert system which has the capability to save thousands, if not millions, of people from harm.

Hydrogen

Donʼt worry about a possible fuel crisis the Hydrogen Fuel Car group are prepared. By extracting the Hydrogen for H2O they were able to power two mini electronic vehicles. The hydrogen fuel car group would like to thank BOC for their assistance and support.

Hot Air Baloon

The Hot Air Balloon group were a soaring success. On the day of the science fayre the group explained the full workings of a hot air balloon. The group would like to thank Palletways for bringing their two hot air balloonʼs to Dalziel on the two dayʼs of the science fayre.

Red Cabbage

Red Cabbage Indicators showed how a simple household vegetable could be used in conjunction with chemicals to become an invaluable laboratory testing substance.

Robotics

Robotics constructed their own Wall-E and Segway style robots. They learned a lot about visual development in NXT Software and, with the assistance of two older pupils, were able to configure an Android OS phone with their robot. The group would like to thank Glasgow Caledonian University for providing the necessary components to allow them to build their robot and Dr. Peter Barrie for his support and assistance.

Serpents Tongue

The Serpentʼs Tongue group made scientific observations of a snake and used their data in their science project. Onlookers watch in awe as the snake hunts down itʼs prey....and strikes!

Thermin

The Theremin group present their non-contact, disco-tech instrument. The group constructed their Theremin and on the day of the Science Fayre were loud and proud! The Theremin group would like to thank Moog Music for kindly donating a Theremin kit, without their support we would not have been able to make this project the success it has been.
