At Dalziel High School we offer a variety of vocational courses:

  • Childcare at Cardonald College
  • Nat 4 Engineering – This is provided at New College Lanarkshire on every Wednesday afternoon and is offered to S4 pupils. The 2 year course has been condensed into a 1 year course and our business partner, Amec Foster Wheeler mentor and support the pupils in addition to supply the PPE necessary. This course is now in its 3rd year of delivery and pupils who have obtained this qualification have gone on to achieve success in Arkwright Scholarships, Foundation Apprenticeships.
  • Foundation Apprenticeship in Engineering – There are currently 4 pupils (S6) who are now in their second year of a Foundation Apprenticeship at EKGTA in East Kilbride. On completion the pupils will gain access to the 2nd year of a Modern Apprenticeship on leaving school.

Scott Simpson (S6) Pupil Says:

Thanks to the schools STEM programme and business partnership with Amec Foster Wheeler I have been given the opportunity to do something I never imagined I could because of my dyslexia.
As a consequence of this I now know that I have a passion for engineering and this is the path I want to take when I leave school.
Doing the Foundation Apprenticeship course in Engineering has opened up new pathways for my career!
