Dalziel High maintained their 100% participation at the last round of the NLC Active School’s 7’s at Cumbernauld
On a blustery afternoon Dalziel failed to hit the highs of previous rounds however and will wait with baited breath to see if the results in the earlier rounds were good enough to secure a place. With the last term being a disaster and seeing games cancelled because of the weather it was very much a pre-season type feel to the performance as players came to terms once again with the contact aspect of the games. Training inside is good but nothing quite compares to getting outside and playing games.
The S1’s were understrength due to injury and so despite playing manfully with just 6 players they lost all three matches. There is still enough to suggest however that the group has much promise for the future.
The S2’s fared marginally better in that they managed one win from their three games, this against Our Ladys’ Cumbernauld while, as was the case with S1, they lost to both Coatbridge and Chryston.
It’s a busy end to the season with the annual Dalziel RFC Festival running on Friday. Good luck to the joint S1/2 team and to the girls who will again form a Barbarians side on the day.
