Exchange Visit between North Lanarkshire and Pescia in Tuscany

The exchange between NLC and schools in the town of Pescia in Pistoia has been running successfully over the last 16 years with Italian students coming from 3 schools in the Pescia region visiting 3 schools in NL in September and their Scottish twins returning to Italy in February.

This year was no exception and a group of 21 students with 2 teachers from the group of 50 were in the school, here, in Dalziel for a week.

They were ‘twinned’ with a Scottish pupil from S5/6 and their families. During the week our visitors, who are from our partner secondary school ‘Lorenzini’ in the town of Pescia, had a full programme of activities which included 2 days in school, a Welcome Disco in Our Lady’s High School and a Farewell Ceilidh ,Dalziel style, here in the school. During the 2 days in school they shadowed their Scottish twins to classes but were also given extra classes in the Music,PE Languages and Drama Departments.

They also visited Glasgow and Edinburgh and spent a day in in the Trossachs and on Tuesday they visited New Lanark.

The week passed very quickly and friendships blossomed. We are looking forward to the return visit in February.

A huge thank you to all who made the visit so enjoyable and memorable.
