Update for Parents - Monday 22 June 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,
I hope all our pupils, parents and families are well.

Thank you for your continued support for our school during this difficult time. We look forward to welcoming all our pupils back to our school in August.

  1. School Re-Opening
We are planning ahead for August using the best information and advice that we have at this time. While we would hope to return to a normal timetable as soon as possible we are also planning for the possibility of a reduced timetable. All our classrooms are currently configured to ensure all seats are two metres apart. The resulting reduction in capacity means that under these constraints pupils are likely to be in school on two or perhaps two and a half days per week. The rules regarding social distancing are always under review and so our plans may change. We will be posting updates on our website and twitter before pupils return in August to give you the most up to date information. We would like to give you more specific information now but it may well change before August.

  2. School Uniform
We will return to our usual dress code in August but we may have to take a flexible approach for a short time when school returns.

  3. SQA Examinations
Candidates will receive their results, by post, on Tuesday 4th August. If your son or daughter has not already signed up to mysqa please encourage them to do so. They will receive their results electronically on the morning of August 4th (in many case before the certificate has arrived in the post). They will also be able to view their details on mysqa. Any miss-spelt names or incorrect addresses can then be reported to the school office and updated.

  4. Option Choices
If you do wish to make changes to your option choices, you must come to school to speak to Mrs Martin, to find out if the changes you wish to make are possible. S5/6 pupils are invited to the school to change options on Monday 10 August time allocations will be made available please check the school website nearer the time for further information.

  5. Motherwell Hub
The Motherwell hub continues to operate for key worker’s children and a number of Dalziel staff continue to support this. We can provide further information to any parent.

  6. School Trip Refunds
We have been told by the travel company that we will get a full refund for the trip to Spain. We may not get the refund until July or August. We will refund this to parents when we get it. The monies paid for the Dalziel Day Out are in the school account and can be refunded to parents next term. We are waiting on information from North Lanarkshire Council regarding refunds for the Italy trip and the London trip.

  7. Pupils Leaving Dalziel
Goodbye to all the senior pupils now leaving Dalziel. I wish you all the best for all the things that you will go on to do. I hope you leave our school with many happy memories and many strong friendships. We hope to see you when we can arrange a new date for your Prom.

Thanks to all our parents for your continued support. I wish you and your families a safe and healthy summer. I will be providing information updates throughout the summer holiday.

We can be contacted by email on: The school office is open again and we can be contacted by telephone on 01698274900
