Parental Update 16.02.21

We would like to start by saying how proud we are of all our pupils who are trying their very best to participate in Digital Learning during these difficult times.

Please remember that teachers can be contacted through Teams and their Glow email, and general enquiries can be made to the school by email or phone. The Health & Wellbeing of our pupils is vitally important and so we are here to support pupils with any concerns they may have.

Following on from the most recent announcement made by Scottish Government, please find updated information below.

Phased Return

In response to the First Minister’s announcement on 16th February, arrangements are being made for small groups of senior phase pupils to return to school from the week commencing Monday 22nd February 2021. This limited return of learners is for the purpose of progressing critical practical work that can only be carried out using in-school facilities. The underlying assumption is that, if work can be undertaken remotely through Digital Learning then it will be.
Pupils involved in returning to school to complete practical work will be notified by the school with dates and times of attendance. They will also be issued clear instructions on where to enter and exit the building and what rooms to use. Pupils must ensure they adhere to 2m physical distancing whilst in school. This is in addition to the previous health and safety measures of sanitising hands and wearing face masks in the school building.
There will be more information on the next stage of the phased return over the coming weeks.

Asymptomatic Self-Testing

The new Asymptomatic Self-Testing Programme has now been put in place as part of the COVID-19 risk reduction mitigations in schools. The tests are available to all staff and senior pupils (S4, 5& 6). Information on this is available on Health & Wellbeing Teams pages as well as access to the consent form. We encourage senior pupils to consider participating in this programme.

S2 Reports & Personalisation & Choice Process

S2 reports will be issued to pupils on Friday 26th February. The envelope will contain a copy of the option form. Mrs Conboy will upload a presentation to explain the personalisation and choice process. This will be uploaded to the S2 Health & Wellbeing Teams page the week beginning 1st March. She will be available to answer questions then too. An information booklet will also be uploaded to the Teams page. Please take some time to go through this with your child.
Completed forms should be retuned via post or email to: gw09conboyfiona@glow.sch.uk by Friday 12th March.
Any pupil who would like an interview with our Careers Advisor; please contact Jane Campbell:- jane.campbell@sds.co.uk

Pupil/Parent Survey

Many thanks to those pupils who took the time to complete the school survey on Digital Learning. The Senior Management Team have collated your responses and are now putting in place the necessary requests and support required.

North Lanarkshire Council have now asked parents/carers and pupils to complete one of the relevant surveys below in order to support learning and teaching, curriculum and professional learning across the authority.
Apologies if you have already taken the time to complete the school survey as one of our pupils, the NLC survey is completely voluntary and will be open until Thursday 18th February.
