September 2021 Newsletter

Dear Parent / Carer,
Firstly, let me begin by saying what an honour and privilege it is to have been appointed as Acting Head Teacher of Dalziel High School. We were delighted to welcome our young people back to school. They have settled well and S1 are already getting to grips with life in secondary school. Although we still have significant mitigations in place, there is a comforting normality in our day-to-day lives at school.

Once again, the young people in Dalziel High School have delivered an outstanding set of results in this year’s SQA National Awards. All members of the school community are absolutely delighted for all our young people in S4, S5 and S6 who worked so hard under extremely difficult conditions to achieve such success. Also, thanks to their parents/carers who have supported and encouraged their every step of the way and, of course, to our staff who have the highest aspirations and expectations for all our young people and are celebrating the success with their students.

  3. COVID-19 Procedures
In order to support our young people who may have to have time away from school due to covid and to ensure that their attendance records are as accurate as possible, please inform the school if your child has had a positive lateral flow test or displays any Covid systems and book a PCR test. Young people should isolate until test results are known. If a household member tests positive, other family members should book a PCR test and await a negative result prior to returning to school. As soon as results are known, please update the school by contacting the office. It is very important that you update us as soon as possible to ensure that the right supports are in place. FME payments will be paid to isolating families. Pupils who are self-isolating can access learning and teaching through their class TEAMS pages. Communication from home about covid cases is essential in supporting our young people and your assistance is appreciated.

  4. Photographs
School photographs will take place during the week beginning 13 September 2021. Please check Twitter and your son/daughter’s year group TEAMS page for further information. The cost will be £10 for four 7" x 5" photographs. All our young people need to be in full uniform on their designated day. The PE department will make allowances for pupils in uniform during that week if they are timetabled for PE.
