Customer Service Excellence Awards 2021
Once again, the school embarked upon the Customer Service Excellence Award and we were delighted to obtain the award for another year.
The audit took place on Wednesday 17th February and the assessor met with staff and pupil forums remotely, as well as the Senior Management to audit the learning and teaching taking place across the school community.
This year the school achieved 32 Compliance Plus categories (‘behaviours or practices which exceed the requirements of the standard and are viewed as exceptional or as exemplar to others’). This is a huge achievement and, along with 50 areas of Good Practice, these are the best results to date for Customer Service Excellence since the school first obtained the award back in 1999.
The assessor highlighted the significant work committed to areas such as Partnerships, Monitoring and Tracking and Learning and Teaching, as well as the success of Digital Learning and the commitment to supporting pupils within Pastoral Support, the two focus areas for this year.
- Pupils spoke with great passion about the support they receive from staff, often outside core teaching times and of being sure that “teachers would do their best for them”
- During the Covid-19 pandemic, you have continued to consult, involve and inform stakeholders as effectively as possible. As a result of less physical access to the school, you have significantly improved digital and other communications and how this is used.
- Pupils and staff spoke enthusiastically about the pastoral support system in place and how it was successful. Pupils spoke, of the fact they felt comfortable to speak to staff about challenges they face and that they did not necessarily have to raise issues, pastoral or otherwise, only with their designated tutor.
- You supported pupils and parents to make the best of remote or digital learning this year. One example being assisting pupils to get online and a range of tutorials online.
- You recognise success of the wider school community and proactively recognise success in achievement and attainment.
The assessor made particular mention of the clear commitment and hard work of all staff within the school, as well as the very positive attitude and work ethic of the pupils he met during his visit, stating ‘There is a sense of belonging and of being part of an inclusive community of learners where individual and group attainment and achievement is valued, encouraged and celebrated across the school and wider community’. The school, as always, is delighted to receive such recognition for the continuing work, support and efforts of everyone invested in Dalziel High, and we look forward to preparing again next year to retain the award.
A very sincere thanks to all staff, pupils and parents who were involved in the inspection, and a huge congratulations to the entire Dalziel High school community.
