Science

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood.”
Marie Curie

Welcome to the Faculty of Science at Dalziel High School.

Science is at the cutting edge of research, development and human discovery and covers a range of topics from using biology to learn about the complexities of the human genome to using chemistry to forensically analyse crime scenes to using physics to make sense of the expanding universe in which we live.

Without scientific creativity and ingenuity, the app on the mobile device in your pocket, which you use to order your take-away meal, from a location mapped out using data from a global positioning satellite wouldn’t happen! Simply put, the modern world in which we live would look at lot different without scientific endeavour.

The study of science provides you opportunities to develop skills such as:-

  • Adaptability
  • Data analysis
  • Problem-solving
  • Time-management
  • Research
  • Communication
  • Leadership

Science isn’t just for scientists! Science qualifications will open many career pathways to you including:-

  • medicine
  • banking & finance
  • sports science
  • engineering
  • architecture
  • military & defence
  • astronomy
  • renewables
  • conservationism
  • sound engineering

The list is endless !

“What I love about science is that as you learn, you don’t really get answers. You just get better questions.”
John Green
