Science & Technology Fayre 2015
The 2015 Science and Technology Fayre has been a resounding success. The Fayre was attended by hundreds of pupils over the last couple of days as our First Year pupils demonstrated what they had learned as part of their research.
This years theme was World War 1 and tied into the whole school Interdisciplinary Learning theme. Pupils researched a range of activities from "Trench Foot" to "Submarines". All S1 pupils took part in the run up to the final which was held on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th June.
We had two winners on the day. The Prize for Best Project went to "Over the Top" who looked at the effect that the shapes of trenches has on the way that harmful gases could move through them. The Best Presentation Prize went to "Mustard Gas" who were able to show the chemical make up of the deadly gas and explain how it is produced.
We were also joined by our associated primaries Knowetop - Spinecode: who showed encrypted codes on their specially designed website, Glencairn - Gryffindor Greens: who investigate generation of electrical energy by harnessing the wind, and our primary section winners Ladywell - Periscopes: who build working periscopes and investigated the effectiveness of spotting enemy troops as the angle of mirrors was adjusted.
A Massive well done to all the pupils who took part and an extra special thanks to all of the staff who assisted with the smooth running of another successful fayre.
