School Captain
Hi, I’m Ewan (the one with the “W”) and I am absolutely honoured to say that I am School Captain for the session of 2023-24! I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who voted me for this position, and I promise that I will do you all proud this year. I cannot wait to continue all of the events we all know and love, and to continue showing our pupils what being a Dalziellian is truly about!

Taking on this role allows me to work with some of the best people I know. I would first like to give a massive congratulations to this years School Vice-Captain, Euan Blackwood. Euan and I have been great friends since starting the Boy’s Brigade together at the age of four, and it is a great pleasure to work along side him. He is an incredible person, both at what he does and who he is as a person, and I can guarantee he will excel in his new role amazingly. I could not be happier to share such an amazing role with such a close friend.

I would also like to give a huge congratulations to this year’s team of House Officials - a group of such outgoing, talented individuals that will continue to offer great opportunities, and provide a lot of fun through all of our events. I’m sure there will be great competition within each, particularly Choral Shield (a personal favourite!).

Following a tremendous year, full of fun, competition and excitement. We hope to make this year one that is unforgettable for all Dalziellians. We will always ‘Aim for the Highest’, and continue to portray our school values: Respect, Include and Achieve! Thank you again to everyone for this opportunity. If there is anything I can do to help, please never hesitate to come and see me. Summa Petenda!

Vice Captain
In my final year at Dalziel, it is an honour to have been entrusted to undertake the role of School Vice-Captain for the year 2023-2024. Thank you to all my peers for electing me, it means a lot. I promise to do my very best to help make it a year to remember, supporting our captain Ewan and all our newly elected House officials. Congratulations to you all on your appointments; I am thrilled to be given the chance to work closely with such a great group of people!

I am confident that the team of officials will work together to help our school calendar run smoothly. Lots of fun will be had in our various events throughout the year: from games morning to our Remembrance Day service from choral shield to the spring concert, and many more events beside. It’s going to be a memorable year! Get involved and make the most of all the fantastic opportunities that will arise; immerse yourself in the culture of our school and have fun!

I have absolutely cherished the time I have had in school and have loved every second of it. I am also very grateful to have been given many chances by officials in previous years to take part in many events. That really helped me settle into and enjoy life at Dalziel over the years. I am now delighted to be able to give back, and help others make the most of life at Dalziel.
Thank you so much.
Euan
