School Captain
My name is Alex Maxwell, and I am the School Captain at Dalziel High School for the year 2024-25. I would like to thank my teachers and fellow pupils for electing me to be in this role. I am delighted and honoured to take on the responsibility of School Captain, and to work alongside this year’s team of great S6 officials. Congratulations to Hannah McDermott, our School Vice-Captain for this session and I look forward to all that we achieve together in what will be an exciting and busy school year.
We both hope to be good ambassadors for Dalziel and to represent the school throughout the year. I am confident that together we will organise, plan and support a successful school Calendar of events and activities such as special church services, various Christmas events, the Burns’ Supper and the S6 Prom. We will also work closely with the three house captains and their officials to support and encourage them as they take part in all of the interhouse competitions and challenges throughout the year … which I know will be very competitive!
I have really enjoyed my time at Dalziel and have been fortunate to have had so many opportunities to take part in the wider life of the school, thanks to previous officials. Taking part in these events helped me as a pupil to truly understand what being a ‘Dalzielian’ meant. Now as your School Captain it’s my job along with Hannah to encourage you to get involved, ‘Aim for the Highest’ and make the most of all that is offered to you as pupils at Dalziel.
Alex
Vice Captain
In my final year at Dalziel, it was an honour to have been elected school vice-captain for the year 2024-2025. This has been something I have dreamed about for a long time. So, to have your peers vote for you for such a prestigious role like this means the world. A massive thank you to everyone who voted for me, I am chuffed to bits!!!
One of the best parts of my role so far has been the amazing people I am working alongside with. Well done to all the officials for being elected, but in particular I would like to give a huge congratulations to our School captain, Alex Maxwell. I have known Alex for a very long time, and he is such a hard worker. There is no one who deserves this more. I’m positive he’ll excel in his new position, and I couldn’t be happier to work with him.
Together, along with the amazing team of House Officials, we will strive for the very best in everything we do and, we will continue to always ‘aim for the highest’ representing Dalziel in the best way possible and portraying our school values: Respect, Include and Achieve.
I know this will be an unforgettable year and I hope we can all look back at this year with great memories. I have cherished my time at Dalziel, and I hope everyone else does to so, I encourage everyone to get involved in all the brilliant upcoming events we have and fully immerse yourself in the dalzielian ways (You know you want to)!
Thank you again for this amazing opportunity, lets have a great year!
Hannah
