Choral Shield Winners 2025 - Greig House !

As another school year nears its end, the halls and corridors of Dalziel have echoed for weeks with the melodic sounds of singing and dancing as one of the main events of the school calendar drew nearer: Choral Shield!

Returning to the beautiful Town House in Hamilton for a second year, seniors from our three houses presented two nights of song and dance to sold-out audiences from across our school community. This year’s performances provided all the music and magic that this event brings each and every year, and each and every performer should be incredibly proud of the show they put on.

They were honoured, too, to offer a special matinee performance for some of our incoming Dalzielians who joined us from our feeder primary schools.

Firstly, Barclay took the cheering crowds on a “Race Across the World” as they grabbed their passports and headed for the high-notes. With songs taking the crowd “From Paris to Berlin”, the house made “500 Miles” into “500 Smiles.”

Next, Greig gave the audience Goosebumps as they turned white as a sheet and took us into the darkness of Dalziel House. Grabbed by ghosts and spooked by spectres, they gave us all the right chills with Radiohead’s “Creep” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

And, finally, it was a date for the diary when Colville flicked through the calendar months of the year. Jingling Christmas songs like “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” and rattling like bones to “I Put a Spell on You” in June, the audience will be talking about this performance for years.

In the end, it was the ghost-busting Greig who were in high-spirits as they were awarded the Choral Shield 2025.

There was another twist in the evening as audiences were treated to a special preview of this year’s school show ‘Oliver!’, our Choral Shield is a shining example of everything Dalziel High School stands for, building a culture of respect, inclusion and achievement in our pupils as they “aim for the highest”, together, in all that they do.
