Language Ambassadors Trip: Refuweegee
Twenty-nine of Dalziel High School’s Language Ambassadors took their skills into the community with a visit to Refuweegee, a Glasgow charity devoted to welcoming and supporting refugees in the city.
Accompanied by Ms Mason, Mrs Gonzalez Curiel and Mr Purvis, the students toured the charity’s office headquarters in the city centre and saw the good work being done each day by volunteers. They also created tote bags filled with donations and wrote welcome letters which will be shared with those who access the organisation’s services.
Afterwards, they visited Barça in Princes Square for an authentic tapas experience, tasting the cultures of Spain in a banquet of chorizo, patatas bravas and pollo con miel.
The pupils lived our school values, aiming to Respect, Include and Achieve by learning about how we can support those in our global community who face adversity to live happy, safe and productive lives.
