Mental Health Ambassadors 2026-2027

After a competitive interview process of over fifty senior pupils. Dalziel High School is proud to have welcomed twenty-three of its fifth-and-sixth year pupils as Mental Health Ambassadors. The pupils will become a crucial part of our school community, challenging stigma, educating their peers and promoting positive conversations around mental wellbeing.
Mr Purvis and Miss Smillie worked with the passionate pupils over the course of two days, inviting them to participate in five interactive and thought-provoking workshops on aspects of mental health. Across their training, they learned about issues such as stress, anxiety and depression before challenging them to present their learning to their peers.
They will deliver five lessons on mental health to S2 classes from October, inspiring a culture of open-conversation around mental health and educating younger pupils. This will help our pupils to connect with the United Nation Convention of the Rights of the Child, particularly Article 24’s right to live as healthily as possible, encouraging a learning community where everyone is respected, included and achieving as part of Dalziel High School.
